Has anyone setup clusters with Redhat? If so, can you tell me how smoothly the configuration went and how they have worked for you in production environment?

I am currently testing a two node Redhat 9 Cluster using HeartBeat (GNU)
So far, it seems pretty good (once you read and get through the configuration document).

Does HeartBeat come with Redhat?

I am thinking of configuring up to 6 Dell machines running redhat 9. Would having more than 2 help with performance? Or is clustering simply to prevent failovers?

My set up provides for failover so Node1 will always be primary until a failure occurs.
If you network load balance across your nodes, you will get better performance as each server will have fewer connections to service.

I have configured a 2 node cluster using Redhat 9. If you follow the EXCELLENT documentation that is provided, it was a walk in the part setting it up. User friendly = 1000%!

You can use Piranha from Redhat. And you can configure Piranha cluster through web browser. I already tried it before in Redhat 6.2
