IF you are using XP/2000 you might have a real difficult problem, worse if SP2 or 3 is intalled on 2k.
If you have 98 or ME, uninstall the driver.. delete the program files\linksys directory. Download the latest driver and INSTALL the driver first by running setup. Reboot and plug the adapter in.
If you are 2k/XP you might have a real mess.
MOST IMPORTANT FACT: once the USB adapter has been plugged into a USB port, that is the ONLY port you can use for that adapter unless you deltete the VID in the registry.
Uninstall the linksys software. Uninstall the adapter form Device Manager. Unplug the adapter.
If you have moved it you need to delete the VID in HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\ENUM\USB. You will have to search each one and delete the whole key starting with VID.....
Then go to HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\Control\Network and delete the 'instant wireless' adapters. The entire numbered key.
NOTE: If you have SP2 installed on Win2K you need to use Regedit 32 to change the permissions on these keys to delete the values.
Reboot.
Install Software first. Plug in driver.
Thats usually what does it.
