I am geeting the following error in my database:

The LinkMasterFields property settting has produced this error: 'A problem occurred while Microsoft Access was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control'

My database will work for about an hour than this error occurs not allowing any information to be entered. If the computer is shut down and restarted, the database will work fine for about another hour. Sometimes it will start working again without shutting the computer down.

Does anyone know how I can fix this error so that the database will allow data to be entered consistently?

Thanks,
dmillj

Hi

I would go through this :

1) Does the same version work on any other PCs ? If so then it points to the controls registered to that PC. Check control version dates etc and make sure they are the same across all PCs

2) Do you have a backup of the database ? If so implement it and see if the problem goes away ? If it does then it suggests that the control is fine on the PC and it is something you have changed code wise or property wise to do with the control. if you don't have a backup then like me you will realize only too late how valuabel they can be !

LinkMaster suggests to me Linked tables. Try compact and repairing then relink the tables.

Hope this helps!

LinkMasterFields is the match of LinkChildFields, two of the properties of a subform control.
