Hello,

We are building a system for keeping print and web collateral updated, and I'd like to be able to keep all copy in one Word or .txt file and link that to my web code and Quark files. Is there a way to link text from a Word or .txt file to a Quark file, so that when that Word or .txt file is updated, the text in the Quark file is updated? Like you're able to do between Word and Excel?

Thank you!

If you have Quark 5, or Avenue.quark, you could store your data as an XML file. It's pretty complicated to get set up, and the tutorials aren't entirely accurate, but for many workflows, it can really help for repurposing data.

Alternatively, there are some third party tools that make the process a lot easier. Go to the following link:

Click the XTensions button, followed by the Database_DTP button. That should give you a list of a few suitable products.

I would recommend using an open standard for storing your text, such as .txt or .xml, as you will be more likely to find appropriate tools. Word files are rarely imported correctly into any program outside MS Office, despite what some advertisers would have you believe.
