Linking Error

Hi all

I use a Access 2000 Database which is located on a productive webserver

there is a textfile (linkend within the DB) which the DB shoud update

but if a open the Link in the Draft Mode the following error appears:

D:\....... is not a valid path

which means, the access has a problem with the absolute path

how can i change this path ?

-> if a downloaded the file to the local machine within the textifile i can create the link, but if upload it to the server the path seems to break

Try using the Linked Table Manager to locate the tables you need.

Tools|Database Utilities|Linked Table Manager

Hi Randy

i tried everything mounting the drive locally on the pc (same path as on the server), shared the folder on the server to link directly \\servername\share\ the link were created successufully but the webbased Application (which depends on this linked text file) dosen't run properly (500'er Error)

any idea?

i mean it shoud possible to change the path from relative to absolut --> so the DB' based Application will the run

The coding may use drive mapping. For example, D:

Make sure D: drive is mapped correctly, and then link the tables.

You have to match the development environment expectations. This may not be easy to do if the developer is elsewhere, or the development environment was different from the production environment.
