Hi

I have the following setup:

I have 2 sites, SITEA and SITEB, each site has it's own domain DOMAINA (win2000) and DOMAINB (win2003). A dns server is running on each site (actually there are installed on the domain controlers). Both sites are linked together by a site-to-site VPN.

What do I need to do:

I need from SITEA to give permissions to users registered on DOMAINB and vice versa.

I found plenty of articles talking about domain trust which sounds like what I need to perform. But, from either of these sites, I can't access the domain of the other site preventing me from doing anything. The networking is fine because I can browse machines from both sites but as soon as I want to register the opposite domain, it says the domain couldn't be contacted...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Jeff.

add the DNS servers for each respective domain in the DNS of the other domain...
that way they can talk thru DNS correctly.

Network browsing does not guarantee this is the case.

Hi,

Thanks for answering.
I tried this solution of adding the oppsite DNS server to each servers. Although he finds it, I have an "Access denied" which I feel is normal as I am not logged on on the other domain.

Jeff

the accounts you use is a domain admin in each respective domain?
where do you have the Access denied message exactly?

what service pack version is your 2000 DC on?

what type of trust are you trying to setup? What option are you specifying?

Hi,

I'll be more precise:

I have an office in Paris:
the server is a Win2003 and act as a domain controler and DNS server for the domain PARIS. I always log as Administrator of the domain PARIS on this machine.

I have an office in London:
the server is a Win2000 SP4 and act as a domain controler and DNS server for the domain LONDON. I always log as Administrator of the domain LONDON on this machine.

I have a permanent site-to-site VNP over internet between both sites. The two domains are totally independent.

I want both domains to trust each others. I need on the LONDON domain to give rights to PARIS users and vice versa.

From each servers I managed to add the DNS server of the opposite domain in the list but it doesn't change anything.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Many thanks

Jeff
