Linked Server - query MS Indexing Services on different machine

Does anyone know if it's possible to set up a linked server for Index Service running on a different machine to the Sql Server?

I have set up the linked server, with Location and Datasource both pointing to the other box, and it hasn't errored on creation.

However running a query against the linked server returns "OLE DB provider "MSIDXS" for linked server "DOCUMENTS2" returned message "Service is not running. ".
I know Indexing Services is running on the other machine

Any thoughts?
