Linked Intranet DB does not allow webuser to access data.

Hi,

I'm currently building an intranet site at work, which will allow my users to get information from the central purchasing database, without having to install Access on each client machine.

This is the situ:

Purchasing Database - stuffin.mdb
Linked Intranet Database - intranet.mdb

The linked intranet database is basically all the tables from stuffin.mdb linked into intranet.mdb

However, whenever I try to retrieve data, I get the following error:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'W:\Database\Stuffin_be.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

I have checked the permissions in both databases for read capability for intranet users on both the table in question and the databases themselves (allow Run/Open).

I also have the local internet anonymous account (IUSR) permissions setup on the database file...

Before I forget:

stuffin.mdb is stored on the server and is shared to which all clients have it as a network drive on 'W:\', whereas intranet.mdb is stored on a different machine which runs the intranet site. I have tried adding IUSR_MACHINENAME to the share on the server, but the only IUSR account available is the one local to the server, and not the IUSR account being used by the intranet site machine.

Should this be possible? I think it should, but I have a feeling that it is a problem with Active Directory, otherwise surely IUSR_INTRANET would be available in the user list when in the Security tab... (?) Ahdkaw
