Does anyone think link popularity is unfair? I have a web service that is used by corporate companies for personnel issues, so they're not going to shout about it and add my link to their site. Whilst I understand why link popularity is used within the SE algorythm I'd be interested to know what people think of the small fish out there trying to make an impact in a very big pond.

Hi mate,

Link popularity is not all as big as it sounds.. I have sites with 2 or 3 others linking to them and they are ranking at #1 in yahoo and a lot of other engines for certain keywords that a lot of sites use.

Also, having your link in your signature here gives you a higher link popularity count, just try going to google and look for your site, click on the link "similar sites". I get loads of tek-tips posts returned for mine..

Someone is going to disagree but that is the way that I see it from experience..

BTW. Sorry about yesterday, I knew that I had seen those url's somewhere but didn't know where!! [wink]

Hope this helps Wullie
