When I select a text and add Line Numbers, the following text automatically goes to a new page... Like if the text I want to number ends in the first lines of a new page, anything follows those lines transfers to a new page (which results in a page mostly blank).. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

In Word 2003, there is a bug in that line numbering ignores the Selection Setting in the Page Loyout dialog. This means that if only a selection is numbers, that has to be in its own section or on its own page (depending on the option you have chosen).

In Office 2007, this have been remedied by a new option, 'Suppress for current paragraph'. This enables you to number a whole page or section and then select some paragraphs and Suppress the numbering.

Thanks, it did help me. However, this means that I have to number all the page first, and then 'Suppress' the lines I don't want to be numbered... So this is quite a silly thing to do. Isn't there any other way by simply selecting a certain paragraph and numbering it? Besides, how did they use to do it before Office 2007? :S

Prior to W2007, it was all or nothing because of the bug. I agree it is a silly way to go in W2007, but you can use Styles to suppress the numbering. So I guess the answer is that you create ThisStyle set to number and ThatStyle set not to number (both styles otherwise identical).
