Line Breaks - typographical rules or guidlines?

Could someone please point me in the direction of a link which provides detailed typographical guidelines for handling line breaks in text.

Thanks for the link. Linebreaks and hyphenation seem to be one particular area of typography in which there is not a consensus on quite a number of points.

 
You are right, but there are some rules which are followed (loosely).

Different publishers will request different guidelines to follow eg.
some want
single quotes
spaced ellipses
spaced En dashes
2 hyphens in a row
no hyphens at the bottom of a recto page
Short word turnovers at the bottom of para's.
The list goes on and on and on

"recto page" Is this just slang for a rectangular page, I've never heard this term before.
