I have 3 CSV files I combine into one spreadsheet and upload to another program. The program they go into has a limit of 25 characters, but the program the information comes from has a limit of 40. Is there a way within Excel to trim those columns back to 25 characters? I thought about using Access instead of Excel, but I'm fairly new at both, and I couldn't figure out how to append my 3 files into one table. Thanks!

I want to just lop off how ever many characters there are beyond 25. I have 2 columns that contain Primary and Secondary names, and my imaging system will only allow 25 characters in those 2 fields. Thanks!

Lets say the data is column A, in Column B1, put:

=left(A1,25)

then paste it down.

This will give you the first 25 characters of column A in column B.

You may then want to copy column B and do a paste special to another column so you will have text instead of formula values.

Perfect! I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks for your help!
