I installed 4.1 software on my IP Office SOHO edition, and now my licenses are coming up as invalid. I have 9 pin dongle connected to the back of the SOHO unit, and when I boot the unit, it isn't seeing the dongle. I have the license server IP address set to 0.0.0.0. I have checked and the licenses have been put in correctly, as they are showing the following:

type: Voicemail Pro (4 ports)
status: invalid

I know that the dongle number matches the license key as well, so that is not my problem.

Any ideas? Should I downgrade to an earlier release? I want to keep on 4.1 for demo purposes...

I don't have any experience with the SOHO but try to put the IP address of the phone system into the license key server address, it might be worth a shot.

Good thought, but it didn't work. Any other ideas?

Did you try to set it to 255.255.255.255 ?

But i think that is only for the usb dongle

I forgot to put the search down :)

License Server IP Address: Default = 255.255.255.255
This is the IP address of the server providing license key validation for the IP Office. The serial number of the Feature Key dongle at that address must match the serial number used to generate the licenses in the IP Office system's configuration. See License for more details.

For parallel and USB Feature Key dongles this address should be the IP address of a PC running the IP Office Feature Key server software. Note that separate IP Offices cannot use the same Feature Key server for license validation, nor can an IP Office validate its licenses against more than one address.

For a serial port Feature Key dongle, the address should be set to 0.0.0.0.

For IP500 systems this field is hidden as those systems must use a smart card Feature Key dongle inserted into the control unit.

Unplug the power and let it sit. Take off the dongle. Power it back up. Unplug it again, put in the dongle, power it up. See what happens.

Since its 4.1, the config viewed in Manager should be showing you the licence key it detected and the serial number of the licence key dongle (System | Dongle Serial Number). Check that first to see if the system is seeing the dongle.

Do an immediate reboot. You should see in Monitor that the key is seen and the licenses are valid as the IP Office boots back up.

I had the same issue on a 4.1 upgrade last month. Power down did not work. Merging did not help. While holding for tech support, I did a reboot, and all was well.

Good luck,

I have a tried rebooting about 10 times, after pulling the config, and not. I have tried leaving the power off, reconnecting with the dongle, etc. The system is not seeing the dongle. I'm driving myself mad as this is rediculous.

I found out that the serial dongle was bad. I replaced it with a different dongle and the replacement comes right up.

thanks for the help.
