I've recently reinstalled Microsoft Office 97 on a machine, and its come up with the message 'access can't start because there's no license on the machine'.

Now, we've bought the license - had it a while, so is there a way to stop that error message coming up?

Thanks

Penny :)

Hi Penny

is your licence an Office PRO one or an ordinary one? Access can only be used if you've got PRO even if it's on the installation disk.

Cheers

PS - apologies if I'm staing the obvious here ... ;-)
't was just a thought

I'm not sure if these instructions are the same as in the Microsoft doc above but I had the same problem when installing Office XP and Access 97 together, and the following fixed it:

- Uninstall Access 97 (no need to make any changes to your Office XP install)
- Search for a file hatten.ttf, located in c:\windows\fonts (even on a clean install of XP as Access 97 will add this)
- Rename to hatten.xxx
- Reinstall Access 97
- Make sure it starts this time without error message
- Rename file back to hatten.ttf (if needed)

You can now run Access 97 and all of Office XP package sucessfully.

Thanks JohnCurtis, it helped!

Penny :) :)
