i have a problem when i isntall new verson ET software (it's cartepilar soft) , before i already remove the old version, but look like this installation program has been detect an old serial number in my mechine and instalation can't continue, how can i clean this old serial or bypass ??
i'm using w2k sp3

Never heard of the program, but you can have a search through the registry and see if there are references to the program.

Start -> Run, then REGEDIT.

Search for the name of the program, the publisher, or whatever you can think of.

Also, be careful. If you muck up the registry you'll break your computer. Ask a friend if you're not sure, before you delete stuff.

And if you break it, you own both pieces.
 
I would run the Registry Editor and look in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive. In there you'll find a folder called Software. Expand this folder and see if there's a folder called Caterpillar Soft (or whatever the software company name is). Click on the Caterpillar Soft folder to highlight it, then press the Delete key. Answer "Yes" when prompted to delete the key.

Restart the computer and install the new software.
