Hi,

In rls 5.5 there are many different SIP licences : NORTEL SIP LINES ,THIRD PARTY SIP LINES ,SIP CONVERGED DESKTOPS ,SIP CTI TR87 ,SIP ACCESS PORTS.
Do you know which one we have to purchase to test a third party SIP phone (Polycom) ?

And what are TEMPORARY IP USERS (new in rls 5.5) ?

Our vendor can not explain what these are for...

NORTEL SIP LINES = Nortel SIP Phones
THIRD PARTY SIP LINES = Non-Nortel SIP Phones
SIP CONVERGED DESKTOPS = Microsoft OCS
SIP CTI TR87 = Microsoft OCS
SIP ACCESS PORTS = SIP Virtual Trunks

You would need:

THIRD PARTY SIP LINES = Non-Nortel SIP Phones

are the Third Party SIP Lines Licenses only starting in 5.5?

..and some additional words of caution.

Just becuase an endpoint uses SIP, it does NOT automatically work with any SIP server or even another SIP endpoint. SIP as a standard is still a work-in-progress with a lot of the implementation either being defined or with vagaries. As a result, every vendors implementation of SIP (both at the server level and at the endpoint level) is slightly different. There is absolutely NO guarantee of full interoperability or functionality.

Real life example. In your house today with analog phones you can be talking on one phone, pick up another phone and be bridged into that conversation. There is no standard way of doing that same function in SIP.

Gwebster if I understand well you mean that each vendor has developed its own SIP protocol. So better to stay with Unistim...

Do you have a list of supported SIP phones for the THIRD PARTY SIP LINES licences. On the Nortel Website there are only a few indicated with Cs1000e...

By the way what is the advantage of using Nortel SIP firmware instead of Unistim fw ?

What are TEMPORARY IP USERS license for???

and what part of OCS does these license belongs to? I mean these both are for OCS.
SIP CONVERGED DESKTOPS = Microsoft OCS
SIP CTI TR87 = Microsoft OCS

Regards
