Legend Circuit pack - Surrogate Mode?

I was wondering what surrogate mode for a circuit pack (card) implies?

Surrogate mode is when you have only the processor in the backplane and no other ckt packs. I use this frequently when installing a new system. It allows you to preprogram a procesor offsite, either directly on the processor itself, or on another processor of similar release level, take a backup and restore the database to the install proc card for a much quicker install process.

HUH? I have an installed system with 8 adapters in it and the eighth one comes up as surrogate mode. (At least in WinSPM v8)

What release is your proc and what is the eighth ckt pack?

I actually have several Legend/Magix that have Surrogate Mode for packs. In all cases, the circuit packs are either 007mlm's or TTR's. All of the systems are Legend r6 or Magix 1.1 or higher.

I am guessing that you are reviewing this information in the maintenance screen under system inventory? I would suspect that this is a bug in the WinSPM version you are running. If you viewed the same material from the console, it would likely not show that same information. When you say that the circuit packs in slot 8 show 007mlm or TTR (I think you mean 016 t/r), are the packs actually installed, or is the software just recognizing something as being there?

I will doublecheck from the console. Yes, all of the adapters are installed. I am using WinSPM v8 and have had some issue with it already. I actually am thinking of backing off to v4 or v5.
