We are going to upgrade from Legato 7.13 to Legato 7.3 for Windows 2003 Server. Has anyone attempted this? If so, did you encounter any upgrade issues and was it a straight forward upgrade?
But if I have 7.2 license, and maintanence in place, and want to upgrade to 7.3, shouldn't be automatic?
Do I have to explicitily ask an update enabler?
Is it correct that a update enabler is required for that step ? So far only only major releases required this, e.g. upgrade from 6.x to 7.x ... so did they change something in the licensing regulations ?
your assumption is not true. There were update enablers also used for minor versions although this a a while ago. The last one was for an update to 5.5.
also keep in mind that if you have firewalls in your Data Zone, v7.3 of networker uses more ports than previous versions, as there are more 'parent' processes, to take the load off nsrd.
i.e. nsrmmgd, nsrjbd, nsrcpd, gstd are new server required ports
check the 7.3 admin guide......somehwere between page 800 and 850 i think.....they finally went into good detail about the rules, requirements etc etc
oh yeah, make sure you operations teams and also your Admin peeps all understand how Networker Management Console works before doing ALL your NSR server, as you dont have your normal nwadmin/administrator windows.....
