Left hand window in explorer is blank

I have found that when I go into explorer the left hand window is just a brown empty window with just a X in the right hand corner to close it down. This is very frustrating when I want to navigate around windows. Is there somewhere where I can switch the view back on.

We are running windows 2000 sp3

I am having the same problem on Windows 98. I guess it maybe due to some accidental file delete, while I was cleaning my hard-disk recently.
Perhaps somebody in this forum can help us both.

I've seen this happen on my builds and I believe it is being caused by the upgrade of Internet explorer to IE6 SP1. I am packaging up this install for deployment and have yet to figure out why it is doing it. Try downgrading your Internet Explorer to see if that clears the fault.
