Learning Avaya 1

I have only played in all Cisco CCM / Cisco Backbone networks. Does anyone have sites I can surf to begin learning Avaya Voice systems, components and configuration. I am a POTS/PSTN/PBX guy but have thrown into the VoIP by fire learning system. I found Cisco CM easy to pick-up. I am currently supporting a multi-cluster Cisco network with many PSTN gatways piping VoIP over PSTN, Cisco LAN, Cisco WAN and Cisco ATM networks.

What particular Avaya systems? Ip-Office, CAll manager, DEfinity, Intuity? If u want to learn all Avaya systems u will have to start with something in particular and then expand from there.

If your boss will let u and u can find someone, there is nothing like following around a Avaya administer for a day or week to learn. Also the sales broshures give a overall idea of the systems and the 'system description' manual gives a good starting point.

Well, my boss is the DoD so, I don't get to follow anyone around. I did take the Avaya U advise. When I get out of Iraq I will see if I can find an Avaya admin. Thanks you all for your input.

They are installing a bunch of Avaya stuff in Iraq so ask if u can go over and work on that stuff for awhile. That is if u are in Bagdad or other city that is getting a AVaya system. U can look at support.avaya.com for all kinds of documentation including broshures. LIke I mentioned before, the description manuals are a good place to start.
