My phone vendor for Unified Messaging is requiring us to enable LDAP in order for some features to work. Some tell me that LDAP is already active as part of Exchange 2000 yet the vendor is telling me that it has to be enabled within Active Directory.

How do I verify that LDAP is running? Bill

it's running...open up a browser and type in this address:

ldap://<exchange-server-name>

you should get a "Find People" window....

Thanks bronto...

I do get the Find People dialog. Is that window supposed to work? I get an Operations Error when trying to use it. Bill

that's ok (you're on E2K, i'm assuming?)...this was just to show you that LDAP is active...

Just want to add few things.
The ports used by LDAP are:
TCP port 389 for client communications
TCP port 636 for SSL communications
TCP port 3268 for communications to Global Catalog server
TCP port 3269 for SSL communications to Global Catalog server

Telnet to a port, will also tell you if that machine is havind a deamon waiting on that port. Gia Betiu
