One of my colleages from the mac world is pitching an alternative email client--First class--and she used LDAP in the same conversation. I am makiing the presumption that it uses LDAP for communication with the Exchange 5.5 server. Maybe I need W2k AD to have LDAP. I think it installs as part of the Exchange 2000 install. Any insight into this would be appreciated. thanks.
LDAP stands for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. Exchange 5.5 Directory is LDAP compliant. For more information about LDAP do a search on LDAP and RFC. There are several RFCs on LDAP. The current LDAP version is 3. Here is a link for some information from Microsoft:
