I have in-state LD calls going out over RLI 3 which is correct. There's 1 NXX (860-699) within that gives a message "don't add the area code when making a local call" etc. etc. If you dial 860-anything else - it goes through correctly.

My knowledge stops at ld 90 AC2 for area codes. I have RLI 2 for inter-state and RLI 3 for in-state.

Where do I look to find out what it's doing?

Can you go into LD 90 and post:
REQ PRT
CUST 0
FEAT NET
TRAN AC2
TYPE NPA
NPA 860

Then also in LD 90 post:
REQ PRT
CUST 0
FEAT NET
TRAN AC2
TYPE NXX
NXX 699

Also, do LD 86 and post:
REQ PRT
CUST 0
FEAT RLB
RLI 2

and the same for RLI 3

Then answer these questions: How do you dial the call from inside? Are users dialing AC2+1+699+xxxx or AC2+1+860+699+xxxx? If they're dialing 1+860+699+xxxx then you can either train them to not dial the area code first; or you can the switch remove it; if they're dialing AC2+1+699+xxxx it sounds like the switch is inserting it and we can fix that too!

the three digits after are usually a npa, you'll see 1860, if your switch is set up for 7 digit routing then the problem is in your switch, if your switch is using standard, 3 digit nxx and 4 digit npa routing, and your dialing a number that can be dialed, the problem may be in your carrier, with nxx's being added everyday, it's easy to miss a single translation in one office

OK, I get NPA and NXX in AC1. nothing in AC2. 669 same as another NXX (585)that works fine. RLI 0 None, None, same NPA.

Calls have to be made 1+860+699+XXXX as it's in-state LD with a different area code.

Calls go through fine on my cell phone, but PBX gets "Please do not dial 1 when making a local call"
So it must be stripping off the 860???

OK, lets try this. Can you turn on dchannel messaging and see what you're sending? Or, can you turn network call trace on your phone (CLS=CLTA) and then dial SPRE+991201+9+# watch your terminal; see what prints and post it; we can see what RLB/DMI that is going out, etc. Please post the dial string exactly as you dial it also. -Matt

What would the Spre be? I tried 9,991201,9 (got the wave off here)

SPRE is a customer defined code; you can find out yours by doing LD 21:
REQ PRT
TYPE FTR
CUST 0
<enter>

You should see several lines down "SPRE" and then your SPRE code for your swtich...

OK, did a Trac 0 on my ext:
ACTIVE TN 007 0 00 03

TERM 002 21 DID RMBR 1 44FA GRLD CNPG 1
DIAL DN 918606693536
MAIN_PM DIAL AUX_PM COMPLETE

DRDD EXR0 23 SSU 0

CALL STATE = 3 OUTGOING
CALLING NO = 2037994100
CALLED NO = 18606693536

PDCA 1 PAD 0 6 PCML MU MU

Your call is going out as 1-860-669-3536, which is how it should or should not? What does the CO want to see from your location when you dial a number in 860-669? Is this route straight to your CO or does it tandem thru another of your switches? Is it an FEX trunk? -Matt

is route 1 your local or ld route?

How do I add a nxx to a Nortel Meridian switch?
Ok, Good morning folks. This is my first post. I am not sure exactly how to ask. I need to add a nxx to our phone switch. I know which route that I have to add it to. I just don't know where to go from here. The tech that usually does this is out, and I'm asked to step up and prove that I have been listening. Well I have, but that quick course he showed me was sometime ago. The steps I have done thus far...
ld 90
REQ prt
CUST 0
FEAT net
TRAN ac1
TYPE npa

Thanks for your help.

What you just printed was to PRT an existing NPA. To add an NXX, do:

LD 90
REQ NEW
CUST 0
FEAT NET
TRAN AC1
TYPE NXX
NXX (insert new NXX here)
RLI (insert route list that NXX should go to)
<enter to end>

Now it's in. -Matt

If I read this correctly... 10 digit dialing to Area Codes that are immediate local? If that is the case is there another NPA that is 10 digit and works? If so prt that if not try and put 860 in as an NPA with same rli currently assigned to 1860. New rli may need to be built to delete the "1" because of new overlay (Area Code). Check 1NPA for existing 10 digit NPA.
