Hi All,
I'm not familiar with LD 49, and having trouble understanding how this works.

Here's the problem I'm trying to solve: we have a lot of DID's that have gone out of service. I want to save TN's and make it easier for myself, but I don't want the numbers to ring busy, and I don't want to make dummy ACD queues for each with a mapping in the VSDN table.

I have a message service tied to 1 DN, and I want to create IDC entries that just correct a call to an out'd number to my message service DN.

This nortel documentation is pretty weak though, can anyone help me wade through this? much obliged.

Confusions: what is a tree number?

I think i understand what to do with the IDGT: prompt, just put in

IDGT: <DN to 'correct'>
<DN to 'correct'> : <changeToOtherDN>

But, not too sure on the rest of the load.

Thanks y'all.

first you have to make sure you have idc tables turned on. That is done in ld 15 in the FCR tables.

ld 21
req: prt
type: fcr
look for idca set to yes and a number of max idc tables in dcmx field. If idca is set to no, change to yes and allow for 3 idc tables. (have your books on this to make sure you are looking at the correct prompts.

then you go to ld 49

req: new
type: idc
dcno: 1 if no tables are built
idgt 1234 (or whatever number you want to convert)

1234 5678(or whatever number you want to change it to.

once your table is built, you go to the route your did's come in on.

ld 16

req: chg
type: rdb
rout: 1 (or whatever route it is)
carriage return to:

idc: answer yes
dcno: put the table number you built
ndno: if you built a night idc table

carriage return to the end and then test.

Hope this helps.

did I miss anything. I'm doing this from memory.

no you pretty well covered it, the only thing that you might need to mention is that the switch is in nights unless you have a console, and you need to consider how many trunk groups you want to put the idc on. i have 4 did routes, for back up, feeding from 2 different offices. i use a different idc for my ld of course. idc is also the only way to change the original dial number.. sending a number to an acd/ncfw to mail, see's the orig dialed dn, a dialed number that converts via idc, becomes the new number for voice mail and or marp.. i have used an idc for nights, so plant phones did not rec did calls except for day shift

Janaya, JohnPoole,
You guys are great, thanks so much!

Janaya, I think you saved me much time. Thanks so much. I didn't know about LD 15 or 21 and it's importance with LD 49. Sounds simple thanks to your detailed explanation. We have a simple switch, and just one T-1 carrying our DID's. We also don't have different answering stuff with night answer, so I'll just build one IDC table, once I enable it in 15/21.

John, glad you chimed in, thanks so much. Not sure I followed all of your post. We are always on night (unfortunately AnyCompany$trade; laid off the receptionist as well), and we have just one T-1 carrying the DID's. I think your setup with 4 DID trunks and different day/answer situations is a switch more complicated than my own, thank goodness...Also, not understanding how you'd use an IDC with your LD trunks, but there's a lot I'm still learning about phone stuff...

One other questions for the Nortel gods...As a web developer who learned HMTL/XHTML/XML/ASP/PHP/CFML/SQL and a handful of other acronymns himself with great online documentation, why is the Nortel documentation so bad? Who can get anything out of the LD 49 description in the NTP docs??? Whenever I talk to my telco service vendor, I get half way into such a question and it's like "well, you better take the NARS and BARS class for like 3 grand."

That's a bit frustrating, but you guys have helped me so much with this one.

Thanks! bdog2020

Hey guys,
Reading Janaya and JohnPoole's posts again. I think I'm understanding.

right now, we are on night 100%, but if that changes, then I'll want to have two IDC tables built that are identical, if we go off night.

In otherwords, I want the DID's ROUT to handle these numbers the same way both if we are ON or OFF night.

Thanks for bearing with me, I think I got it now.

don't need two tables for that, just the same dcno table number for each entry. the reason for 2 diff tables is to reroute certain did's or dnis with att leaving.. some of our calls go to menus after hours

Hey guys,
just got down to testing this. Problem though, in LD 21, how do I change the FCR data to IDCA=Yes?

Seems that you can't type CHG in this LD, and the other options (according to my manual) are PRT LTM and END don't seem to cover a change here?

thanks--b

ld 15 for changes to the CDB.

ld 15

Req: chg
type: FCR
yada..yada..yada..
IDCA: yes

Hope this helps.
