Hello.
I am struggling to setup an IP Office system to dial an LCR code prior to all calls. I can't get my head around the LCR form. Has anyone got any suggestions.
Many thanks in advance,
Lee

The hardest thing to understand is that the LCR is after the shortcode. Here is an example:

Without LCR

sc - 9N
tn - N
lg - 1
f - Dial

If you dial 96105551212 from a phone the system will dial 6105551212 from whatever Line group you specify(1 in this example).

If you were to have LCR

sc - 9N
tn - 9N
lg - 1
f - Dial

And LCR Tree
Main
c - 9N
tn - N
f - Dial
lg - 1

Alternate
c - 9N
tn - N
f - Dial
lg - 2

If you dial 96105551212 from a phone the system will send 96105551212 to the LCR which will match to the 9N main route. This will now dial 6105551212 from Line group 1 if available or 2 if it is full or OOS.

Just remember that it goes shortcode to LCR. And use Dial 3K1 if you are in the states and using a PRI, don't ask me why, it just works better. Another trick is that you will need if your LD and Local provider both want 10 digits is to tag LD with an 8 and local with a 9 in the telephone number field of the short code. This way users can dial 9 for all calls. If it is a local call the system will pass 9N to LCR and if is an LD call the system 8N to the LCR allowing you to choose.

Hope that helps.

Don't use 3K1 for international calls, some countries will not route it.

Sorry, that will give you the secondary dial tone. It will still work though.

Be aware that officially secondary dialtone and LCR do not mix, although as kflounders mentioned it does work. However, I have had problems mixing these two in the past, so if you run into weird dialout issues suspect the LCR before you spend too long barking up the shortcode or carrier tree (or should I say lines tree? trunk tree? tree trunk?)

Make sure you programm an override code so that the useres can revert back to your line provider *When* the LCR company are having problems
