When doing a stat in LD 32 instead of the usual idle or busy this is the status...the console is blurry so I can't quite make it out. Has anyone seen this? Option 11C Ver. 2121, release 4....3900 series phones. No calls coming in to site on main line or roll-over lines. Disabling and enabling clears it up temporarily but it will happen again...just don't know what is causing it.

either a bad set or tn usually.. after you do an enable, check the firmware level and idu... it still sounds like hardware

could be a simple bad card... check the trunks with a buttset inbound...

Are they ground start or Loop start? I have had the same problem at 4 of my units, 3 of my units were fixed by switching to Ground Start Trunks. Now if they are ground start trunks check your grounds, also check the voltage readings from Telco, i have noticed on our line that when our Trunks go into LCKO, that we are receiving bad voltage from TELCO, so that is another thing you could check, TIP to RING, TIP to GROUND, and RING to GROUND to make sure they are all what they should be.

Right about ground and loop. Put your buttset on a trunk. If you do not get dial tone than take a piece of cross connect and ground it and run it across the butt set clips. This should produce dial tone and you than have confirmed they are ground start which is what you want. if you get dial tone without the ground than they are loop and I hear these are not the way to go on an opt. 11. My two cents.

all trunks are SUPPOSED to be ground start but I will make another vist to the site and verify this with a buttset...bellsouth is pretty good about leaving a ground start wire hanging from their box...saw164, i'm just a MIS peon so i'm not sure about checking voltage from bellsouth...what should it be??

48 volts at 20 mil.. amps need to be read in series BUT if you use a buttset and have dialtone, i have never needed to use a vom.. before installing dc switches i don't think i took my old simpson off the truck in 20 years of analog trunks.. because you have so many bad at one time, take an analog trunk card.. if the provider had that many bad pair or ports at one time, other people would be screaming..

also the trunks need to be programmed as grd in your trunk build in ld 14.

and i think there are still switch settings for ground start on the card.. (haven't installed an analog trunk in 10 years or more)

the trunks are progammed as ground in the switch...would it be a voltage issue if disabling and enabling corrects the problem and opens the trunks back up to function normally??This is the 3rd time it has happened at this site so I'm pretty sure it will come back again....can the voltage issue be intermittent??

I would probably replace your trunk card first if you have a spares laying around, or try to program it up in a different slot, like JohnPoole said. I would also check to make sure all your grounds are good.
The only reason that we concluded that ours might be a Voltage issue, is one day when we found our trunk to be in LOKO we pulled the cross connect off of the demarc, and took voltage readings from Telco and when going ring to Ground we saw -48 and when we went from tip to Ground we saw -28, When on a properly working ground start trunk you should only see voltage on the ring side.

your right, a light cross like that can be a problem

we're turning this over to the vendor..he's never seen this before but can get support from Nortel. i'll post the findings when i know. thanks for all the above help and information which i have also passed on to the vendor.

Latest info regarding this problem. The vendor suspects it may be the way the universal card is programmed....there is a setting for the answer supervisor to be set to "yes." Not sure where this is set but when printing the TN for the trunks I see SUPN is set to yes...don't know if that is the answer supervisor or not. Anyway, vendor is coming next week and I will have more info to post.

Yes SUPN, on the TN of the trunk is where you set Supervision.

UPDATE!!!

Vendor has looked at this problem and Nortel told them the switch needs patches. Vendor downloaded/installed 133 patches and we're monitoring to see if this indeed is the fix. Switch is V. 2121 Rel. 4. I'll post the results.
