I'm trying to load symantec antivirus and the update ( 2 different programs ) one after another w/o having to click on both. Would you use a .bat file or is there another way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

off the top of my head

on the update file you can extract the files to a location using the "/extract [path]" switch

once you have all the dat / defs files you can integrate those files into the files included with your nav install...

then it should be one big old happy install.

update.exe did'nt work. It's a .msp file from symantec. When you do a properties on it it says it's a windows installer program. I have to send this to users that don't know squat about computers so I need to find a way for them to click once and run both programs.

Thanks again!

hmmm I was thinking you were updating with the latest defs EXE

try going in dos.. navigate to the program and do
update.exe /?

you can view all the optional switches that may help you find what you need

It says it's not a internal or external command. It can't reconize it.

If they don't know anything about computers then I would not let them install Symantec or run the updates. How many computers are you having to install it on?

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.
