Show Last Saved Files

I know the question has been asked before in this forum as I've read the answer, but to put it plainly, I need it explained even more simply ... how do you show the last 4 saved files, as for example in Microsoft Word?

This is my 'new career' in programming and I'm stuck, totally (already!).
