As I understand it, last-login-company entry in macola7.ini should remember the last company the user logged into and default to that company on the next login. Couple of questions
1) having issues getting it to work in a Terminal Service environment - TS users defaulting to different Company than the one they want. Any thoughts?
2) Does last-login-company only apply to PWE?
Thanks

Macola 7.5.102e (Not PWE), Pervasive SQL

always remembers last login.

It could be that all users in the TS environment are pulling the info from the Macola7.ini in the c:\windows dir instead of the windows dir under their profile. To test this, change the starting-progression line in the macola7.ini in the c:\windows dir to something you'll recognize (i.e. test or alkjdsflkasjdf) and try launching Macola. See if you get the unique message.

Thanks Keain.. I think you may be on to something-I remember seeing something like that..will test tomorrow.
If they are in fact accessing the c:\windows\macola7.ini instead of the one in the profile, how do I get them to access the one in their profile instead? Thanks

They may not have one in their profiles. You may need to copy it (and the Windows dir) to each profile. After that, get rid of the macola7.ini in c:\windows. Don't get rid of C:\windows, however... ;-)

No need to copy the entire c:\windows directory. Just create a directory called "windows" directly under the user's profile folder and copy the macola7.ini in to the folder. Unless you have some other directory specified in your group policy, the Macola login will use the one under the profile.

The last login company is stored in macola7.ini in windows/winnt or under the user/windows. However, the standard progression explorer does not log the user into the last company logged into. It defaults to the first numbered company it finds. PWE, however, does log the user into the last company they logged into. I actually prefer the PWE interface now as the users can organize their tabs, create shortcuts to other programs, define steps to processing and the order in which to do them, etc. Just my 2 cents.

All of what has been said is right on track. I would add that PWE had some issues in earlier versions. But it has been fixed in nerwer visions. There are other advantages to PWE than already stated, one of which is the fact that the user shortcuts are stored on the server rather than the local workstation. That means that their profile will follow their log in to different PC's
