Anyone know why when i install a new windows XP machine and use any 6p driver for XP, the print is ok but there is a blabc page inbetween every job, IE 20 page job has 40 pages etc.

i can use the 6L driver ok and it prints fine but just doesnt use the manual tray automatically.

anyone help?

Hi, Topez

Bit of a shot in the dark but it sounds like a paper size problem. Don't know where you are located but if the driver is set for A4 paper and you are printing on letter that can cause each page to run over onto the next, where it is likely only printing blank lines.

Alternatively check the nonprintable area/margin settings to make sure it isn't set too large.

If you just do a printer test page do you get an extra page then also?

Best regards
Jock

yeah we get the blacnk there also.

its fine from a 2k machine just Flippin XP :(

Install new drivers on the XP BOX that is the main issue. alos update the server side.

You could try using a generic print driver for that printer to see if that eliminates the problem. Install a HP Laserjet II driver and print using that instead of the 6P driver.

This driver works extremely well with most HP Lasers and in my experience, has few problems. This driver will be in XP by default. You could also go to HP own site and check for driver updates. I remember when 2000 was first released we had a number of problems with HP Inkjet Printers and it took some time for HP to resolve these issues.

Please post back if you try this as we are starting to see XP appear at work ourselves.

One more thing to check , My HP software has an option to insert blank pages between jobs, make sure it's not checked
off in the box, it may have been put there by default. Dave

Thanks i,ll give them ago this morning.

think that makes me think is if theres 5 people printing through a printserver which has a dedicated HP lj6 driver they print ok, soon as i capture an XP machine to it, the xp print are as this fault, the others are all fine, i know if i change the driver then all the others will go tits.

I,ll try the LJ2 driver and keep you lot posted.
