Large recipient email

We are running exchange 2000 on server 2000 with office xp at each station. We get this error message in Outlook "The operation failed" when we send out an email with many recipients(600+). This only happens however, on two of the workstations. There are two others that send out the exact email, and all the recipients with no problems. This is a mystery, both computers have Office SP2 and all of the office.microsoft.com updates. What the heck is going on?
