Hi

Have had a laptop for 2 years now, and my normal resolution display has gone wonkey!

The actual desktop screen fills approx. 25% of the actual screen (ie small envelope size in the middle of the screen). The rest is just a large black outer square.

If I attach an external monitor it displays perfectly.

What has gone wrong that I can fix? or has my laptop had it.

Before giving up the ghost on your laptop's display screen, make sure that it's configured with the correct resolution(1024x768 for 15", 1280x1024 for 17") in Display Properties/Settings, and with the correct refresh rate in DP/Settings/Advanced/Adapter(check your laptop's documantation for the correct RR).

If they're ok, then the screen may be bad.

Does sound like a config. issue. If the above advice gives no joy then a re-install of the video drivers might help.

The connectors on laptops that gro from the display to the motherboard are sometimes problematic and have to be replaced.
