Anyone have any recommendations for where to purchase a new laptop battery?

Your first bet would be to contact the original manufacturer to see if they can help. If it's an older laptop and they couldnt help, I would try a store like Batteries Plus if you didn't have one locally or couldn't order one from there, next on my list I'd try Ebay.

Cheers
Rob

The answer is always "PEBKAC!

I hear Sony has some pretty hot deals...

(please don't throw things at me)

The last 2 Batteries I bought were on Ebay, read there scoring and you get a good idea if they sell good stuff or junk. both of the ones I bought took a charge and kept the laptop runnung for at least 2 hr's.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Thanks for the replies. I have a toshiba laptop but was looking at some online sources where the battery may have been cheaper than trying to purchase from toshiba.

Still depends on where you are. If you live in Outer Mongolia and you order from a South American website, the transport charge and import tax will still cost quite a bit. All the hot deals will be totally swamped by postage.

Have you tried google and put the battery part number in there. (Seek and Ye shall find)

[rofl]

I have had bad experience with eBay batteries that were "compatible". I did get a good deal on Dell brand-name batteries from an eBay merchant they were genuine Dell part numbers and came with a BIOS CD for some reason. I would NOT buy anything but an original-brand battery, unless it was hideously overpriced.

I bought 1 Dell and 1 IBM battery on Ebay for less then 1/3 of what it would have cost from Dell or IBM. both batterys charged right up and hold the charge and they where in there Manufactor's box.

eBay is the way to go for stuff like that. I got an extra battery for my Toshiba Satelite U205, and have had no problems. I've also gotten batteries for others' laptops on eBay. Just be careful of whom you buy from, and READ the description VERY closely. [wink]

Tony,
I was just trying to make a stupid joke about all the recent battery recalls, and I deeply regret the effort...

Good thing I'm not a comedian by trade, I'd starve to death.

Don't sell yourself short...it was a brilliant reply. Have you contacted the networks? Comedy writers are hard to find, you'd probably get a job!
