Hello all!!
i'm looking at segmenting a site due to the amount of broadcasting currently being experienced. It is possible to do this without using VLAN's & use a router to segment the broadcast domains. Each dept has there own switch & a router is used to route the packet among the broadcast domains. I require a router with 3 maybe 4 ethernet ports to carry out this segmentation. Any ideas as to a suitable model. the cheaper the better really. Any advice would be greatfully apriciated.....

Thanks

How about a layer 3 capable switch? That's going to route WAY faster than any mortal router, the backplane on the 3550 for example is something like 12-16 Gbps. By the time you load ethernet cards in a 2600 series router you're probably close in cost.
