I have a printer problem on my LAN that only seems to affect our HP LaserJet 2200dse. We are running NT4 sp6 and I have the latest printer drivers on the LAN and on the workstations. The users print from Windows 95, 98 and XP. The printer has never printed as fast as it should, however lately it’s printing the error message listed below in between pages.

ERROR: rangecheck
OFFENDING COMMAND: ashow

STACK:
( )

-0.2

I get these comments in the event log:

The procedure entry point OpenPrintA could not be located in the dynamic library SPOOLS.DLL

The procedure entry point SetPrinterDataA could not be located in the dynamic library SPOOLS.DLL

Can anyone help?

You might try downgrading the XP drivers to win2000 drivers, these will work well on XP and may eliminate the problem. The errors being shown are DLL function calls which are most likely being called from the XP's and are not available in the NT Dll's. Something else you can try to clarify this is to connect the Hp to one of the XP's and run it from there since they most likely have all of the requested functions available.
