After I have install the Win XP SP2. I can see my LAN connection icon in the Network Connection. But all my IP address is still there and I have no problem accessing the Network. I have try to turn off the firewall but it still the same. Anyone have the same problem after install SP2. Pls Help Thanks !

Try:

Start, Run, CMD

regsvr32 netshell.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
exit

Reboot.

Hi bcactner,
I have try the command but the problem still persists. any idea

If the issue is just the lack of a notification tray icon, right-click in Network Settings your LAN connection, Properties, and checkmark the box at the bottom to show the notification tray icon.

I am sorry I might have misread the post. The post I previously posted refers to Icons missing in the Network Connections.

Have try all step in MS KB 825826 but all is not working. worst thing is after i have remove my network apdater, i lost all my previous setting. i have uninstall the SP2 and the Lan connection icon is back. So far i have install SP2 to 3 PC and all of them having the same problem.

Did you make the exception in the firewall for File and Printer Sharing?

Did you set the Scope of the exception for your lan subnet?

No as you mention, i have even turn off the firewall.

This worked for me:

Start, Run, CMD
regsvr32 netshell.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 netcfgx.dll
regsvr32 netman.dll

Says for SP1, but check the registry settings anyway.

It is important to check that the Plug and Play service, and the Remote Procedure Call service are running.
