Hello all,
I don't know if any of you have evry installed and run the Teklynx Labelview software for Barcode printing. I have installed it on a Win 2000 operating system and it reqiures you to be admin to install the printer drivers (which is OK, and understandable). However, anyone who is not 'admin' on the PC can't print any labels!! If I log in(I am admin), I can print labels. We are a large company with about 4000 employees, typically, no one is 'admin' on their computer (I'm sure some of you know the nightmare that it would cause!) Does anyone have any suggestions or has had this problem before?

Do you get any error messages when the user tries to print (from the app or in the Event Log)?

We have some software here which was written so you MUST be admin to use it. So I know the problem you have!! New Zealand, a great place to live.

Install the software to someplace else than the "Program Files" directory, as normal users don't have hardly any access-rights there. Put everything (during installation) in C:\TekLynx, and afterward grant access to 'Everyone' for read and write in C:\TekLynx.
Guess this will help at least a bit.

Then there is the possibility that it needs to write in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the registry. This is not allowed for normal users, unless you grant access with regedit32.

Ton Hu, the software is not installed in the 'Program Files' folder by default. It is installed in a c:\LVWIN60 folder. I checked the permissions and and gave everyone modify permissions. Still didn't work. Our users don't have access to regedit32.

Darranagl, the app is giving me an error message that says 'Failed accessing printer....'

I just wish I new exactly what the user would need access to in order for this to work. That way I wouldn't have to give them admin, I could just give them access to what they need!

Any more ideas?
