Hello All,

I am running Windows 98SE. I am using Office 2000.
I need help adjusting the way my labels print onto Avery #5160 labels. I am referring to when I need to print one label at a time by using the Tools>Envelopes and Labels menu. I can see the schematic shown from the Options>details buttons but I don't know how to have the label printed farther to the right and more in the center of the label. Right now it just butts up against the left side of each label and looks lousy on the label printing so far to the left. I don't see a centered option from this dialog box. The details only shows the label specs not the printing specs. Messing with the side margins will cause other problems.

Thanks,

Bucky

Bucky,

Select the table that has been created

Right click in the table and select Table Properties

In the Table tab, click the Options button

Change the default Margin Setting as desired

Skip,

Let me be clearer about my issue. In Word from the Tools menu, select Envelopes and labels. Choose the labels tab. I want to create a single label. All I can do here is type the label or I can choose options which is where I select the Avery style #5160 label sheet. I can also choose details about the Avery #5160 label which allows me to adjust margins, horizontal and vertical pitch etc. It does not allow me to adjust where the type begins within each label. I need to adjust where the type fits within the label. I know I can sort of adjust it by using the space bar to create space from the left border of the label or I can use the tab function by holding the control key while tabbing but I want to fix the default position of where it prints on the label when I type in the window without a bunch of rigamaroll like using the space bar or tabs to get the right position of my type within each label.

I understand how tables work but there are not any tables to work from in the Tools men, Envelopes and labels selection that I know of.

Thanks,

Bucky

Skip again,

I went to the site listed in your reply after I sent the prior message. One of the 'free' tips about Envelopes and labels was sort of helpful in solving my problem. Now I know what you are talking about in the created table. I have never created a table from this menu command before. I have simply typed in the box provided in the labels tab in the envelopes and labels selection. I now understand that this 'convienient' box is Microsoft's shortcut to the table you mentioned, however the shortcut has its limitations. Now that I can 'adjust' my type in the table I will forevermore use the table to type my sinlge labels.

Thanks for the info and for the link to theOfficeExperts
