I am setting up a lab to test a PPP connection to 2 Cisco 2501's. My intended lab is as follows. When setting this up do I need to use from one router to CSU a MALE DTE V35 (CAB-V35MT=) and from the other router to the CSU a MALE DCE V35 (CAB-V35MC=). What would be the pin out from the cable between the CSU's RJ45 plugs. Would I simple need a role over cable? I know what the router config's should be, my question is layer 1.

R1--V.35---DSU--T1/rollover cable---DSU---V.35---R2

Piece of cake.

Halfway down is the T1 crossover link.

remember it's crossed from both ends.

Thanks for the pin out, your the man... ALSO.. Am I correct with the DTE and DCE V.35 cables. Does this look correct.

R1--DTE V.35---DSU--T1/rollover cable---DSU---V.35 DCE---R2

Doesnt matter ... the DCE end is the one with the clock rate set. You can swap it around to R1 is to supply the clock.

Do you understand that you can screw the two V.35 cables together for a back to back cable without the DSUs in the loop?
