This is a strange one, i built up a pc installed 2000 Pro SP4 on it, and installed all the programs that my company needs, and attached it to our domain.

Then i attached it a recently bought KVM Switch, and it proceeded to start behaving erratically after that..

Sometimes it wouldn't start up, other times it wouldnt pick up the keyboard and mouse (shared through the KVM via USB)

Now, about 75% of the time it just continually reboots itself, just before loading the log in screen..

The rest of the time i get a Blue Screen of Death referencing a driver named L8042pr2.sys..

Microsoft's site offers no relevant articles to this situation..

I'm going to end of just rebuilding the pc, because there is now important data on it, but still i'm wondering if anyone has had issues such as this before?

The KVM switch is an Iogear GSC1734.

Thanks,

the driver being bluescreened is a logitech driver:
File Name: L8042pr2.sys
File Size: 50.990
File Version: 9.42.0.00
File Company: Logitech
File Description: Logitech PS/2 Mouse Filter

my guess you might have one (or both) of these problems:
1) Cables. Either they are too long, or you might have a USB version1-USB version2 problem

2) low or inadequate power on the USB bus. is the KVM powered or passive?

Best test would be to use PS2 (standard connectors) keyboard and mouse for awhile to see if it helps. if so, i would engage Iogear's tech support for the issue.
