killing sockets

is there any way i can terminate a tcp connection as root?
i don't want to kill it's parent process but rather watch what happens when it's connections are lost.

Why not use some TCP proxy and kill the proxy process
whenever you like?

you could always turn off the interface.

ifconfig hme0 down
