If anybody can help please:
Is there a way of resetting a minimal number of things in windows without rebooting. Every so often <<usually when I've got more than 4 active applications in task bar>> my tab and escape keys start to do strange things. EG I can be on a field in browser and hitting tab will takes me to another application in the task bar rather then tabbing down a field. Obviously rebooting fixes this but there must be another way. ps I am on windows 98.

Any help appreciated...

I have had the same problem in the past. Some say that it's the ALT key that gets stuck (ALT-TAB switches programs). I disagree, you use the Enter key more than ALT, but you don't see the enter key getting stuck, now do you?

I think it is a problem with the OS, I hope somebody can back me up on this. Nate Gagne

I'm assuming that when you hit the escape key during this freaky period, your window gets minimized???

For some reason your system thinks you are pressing your Alt key. Alt-Tab is a quick way to scroll through your open programs. If you keep the Alt key pressed down and then press the tab key, a window will show your programs that are open, you can then tab through them to get to the program you want. I think it's called Quick Toggle.

I've had the same thing happen with the unwanted switching of programs. Oddly the way I got it to stop, was to do the Alt-Tab myself. It's not a permenant fix, but it should (at least it does for me) end the "sticky Alt" Mike

We had this problem where I used to work and it only occured on PC's running a particular Virtual Terminal Software. The easiest way we got around it was to hit the ALT key about 10 times and it would free it up. I agree that it is either an OS or Software issue rather than a key sticking problem. Mike Brown CCA
