I am using a Microsoft Internet Keyboard with Windows XP Pro and am having trouble with the quotation marks. When I use the quote (") marks the symbol doesn't show until I enter the next letter. I have tried 3 different keyboards but there is no difference.

I also run a Family History Programme and am unable to use their inbuilt shortcut system. This is Control+ 1to0.
Nothing happens when I try this. It was OK on Windows 98 but not on XP Pro. Would anyone have a solution to these problems please?

That sounds more as if you are on the wrong input device setting.
Is it a US keyboard? Well, whichever, just make sure the keyboard layout is chosen correctly.

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. I had to change my Lauguage setting from US International to just US. It now works beautifully after months of frustration. Still no answer to the problem on my Family History programme though. Thanks once again

You're welcome.

On the Family History program, we'll need more info.
Name? and what exactly does it do (or is it supposed to)?

I am using Relatively Yours 3, an Australian programme. This programme includes ten shortcuts 1 to 0. They are used for place names, comments, etc. and are activated by Control+Number. When I press Control+1 eg. absolutely nothing happens. I have used them successfully before but on an earlier version of RY and on a system operating on Windows 98. The writers of the programme are doing their best to solve this problem for me but as yet are unable to come up with an answer. I don't know if this is a problem with XP Pro combined with RY3 or not, however there have not been any other enquiries to the RY Forum and one would expect that there would be quite a few users with this combination. Another theory is that I am still using Word 97 and although it appears to be working well, do you feel that this could be a factor in the failure of the shortcuts to work properly.
Many thanks. Marj.

Great News!!! I have just discovered that my shortcuts are now working in my Family History programme. They work with Control+Number on the main keyboard but not on the number pad on the RHS of the keyboard. This has only happened since I changed the Language options. On earlier versions I feel that they worked on the number pad as well.

Thanks again for your help in heading me in the right direction. What a great day!

Marj.

It would surprise me really if it ever worked with the keypad, but it's possible.
Regardless, your problems are History .. and that is what counts.

Has anyone ran into the problem of the enter key not working when browsing the Internet? The key will start working after a reboot. The OS is Win2K SP-4, the browser is IE 6, SP-1. This is happening on more than one system in my environment. I have scanned for viruses, but nothing has shown up.

Does it make any difference (kepad numbers) if your numlock is on or off?

Yes, I tried the num lock but have since found out that there is a problem with my programme. This is being corrected in the next update. The kep pad shortcuts were able to be used with older versions so I hope that this will happen again with the new update.

Thanks to all who replied, your help has been very much appreciated. It would appear that the problem is now solved.
