when my comp boots it stops and a message "keyboard not found press del or f8 to continue" appears and when i press del it takes me the cmos set up. Why does my comp display this message when i have a keyboard attached. how can i fix it permanently? Im using a Pentium III on an asus cuv4xc mobo. win xp with 256 memory.

when was the last time u unpluged your mouse and keyboard?
did it stop working after you did it?

Maybe the keyboard and mouse are reversed. Maybe you should change the driver for the keyboard. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

i haven't unplugged it for months, if i go to bios set up and exit, the bppt process continues.

Try using another keyboard to determine whether it is the keyboard itself or the connection. If you swap it out with another keyboard and it works than of course it was just the keyboard, if not than you have a bad serial port and I would recommend a usb keyboard.

I wouldn't expect a keyboard error, but it might be worth changing your CMOS battery.
