I have recently noticed a problem: When the PC is powered down, keyboard light(s)remain on slightly (not as bright as usual but definitely lighted. Everything else is off. This is a 667 ASUS 3v4x M/B running W2k. Currently there is another problem where it won't power off, when shutdown is selected, and has to be turned off manually. The problem with the lights existed before this new problem.

Any ideas..Thanks

Are you using Windows98 se as it is a bug for the shutdown problem .

Possibly related, but a little off the mark- my system has a power-up option where you can hit left-alt-f12 to turn on the power. On this syste any keyboard lights that were on wheil the system was on stay lit when you shut it down. Just a thought...

Have you got a printer or other peripheral plugged into the parallel port which is still powered up? Some printer interfaces are poorly buffered and allow voltages to appear at the parallel port of the PC. This phenomenon can also sometimes prevent the computer PSU from starting up when power is applied to the PC at switch on.
