All of a sudden, my keyboard enter button isn't working in standard programmes. Cannot enter on email, word or excel or anything, have to use my mouse to move the cursor - which is actually quite annoying. It works on Internet Explorer after entering an address - have I mistakenly pressed the wrong button or is it new keyboard time - have only had this keyboard 18 months though!

The easiest way to check if your KB is bad is to try a different one.

Standard ps/2 keyboard or wireless or USB? When the enter key doesn't work, can you use the enter key on the number pad?

Have tried different keyboard (same model, a Dell something or other) and that works fine. The enter button works intermittently and I have unplugged and replugged the keyboard and it seems to make no difference. Whenever I restart, it sometimes work aswell. The keyboard works on PS/2 by the way.

If another KB works ok, then yours is bad.
You may be able to disassemble it and fix it, but standard KB's are so inexpensive(sometimes $0 with a rebate) that it's not worth the effort.
