I wake up the next morning and my keyboard and mouse are seriously lagging. I try to reboot and still the same. I plug my mouse into a USB instead of PS2 and it works fine, but the keyboard lags. It takes 4 to 6 seconds for a letter to appear on the screen. I'm thinking it is a problem with the PS2, since the mouse started to work in the USB port.

I also think its not a problem with Windows98 because the keyboard would lag even during the boot up process. When it runs scan disk before Windows (since I failed to shut down properly), usually I can just press the space bar and it ends. However, it takes some time before it actually exits.

I'm running on Win98, with Logitech optical mouse and microsoft natural keyboard. My mobo is the K7N2 Delta. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

well it could be that your PS/2 port is busted, that the keyboard is bad, that the KB is dirty, etc.

how's is it acting in DOS mode? with no Win98 at all running (such as from the BOOT disk)?

what is connected to your COM ports?

do you have a MODEM hooked up there?

Ben

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...
