I am getting these errors in my meesage log on a RH 9 box. It is a production email server which still works but I would like to fix it before it creates problems:
*************************
Oct 3 10:38:00 email kernel: SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 0 lun 0 return code = 8000002
Oct 3 10:38:00 email kernel: Info fld=0xa4286e, Deferred sd08:02: sense key Hardware Error
Oct 3 10:38:00 email kernel: I/O error: dev 08:02, sector 31729472
*************************
can anyone tell me what this means ( I am guessing bad sectors on the SCSI) and the best way to fix it?

It is a live email server with only one disk and I dont want to screw anything up!

Thanks in advance

I don't know how to completely interpret it, but it appears that a bad sector was found and probably skipped. This is "normal", but the first sign of bad things to come.
