Help!

I've just started to get this window message. I keep immediately rebooting, afraid it's someone hacking into the PC.

I've tried installing a firewall, but unless I lock it totally down, it still shows up.

Does anyone know how to determine what's causing this connection message to show up?

Thanks

Is this message a regular pop-up type window more or less in the middle of your destop, or is a ballon like notice near the notification area of you task bar? If a regular window, is there any title on the window?

Are you (or someone else that uses your computer) running any instant messaging clients or file sharing software?

Is this the actual message "Device connected on ??? 1" - with the question marks or do the question marks represent something like 'COM' or 'LPT'?

Lastly, does this happen if you remove your connection to the internet or network? Unplug the phone line or network cable.

Actual message is "Device Connected on Channel 1". I used "???" because I couldn't remember the word. But, it popped up later again - despite having the firewall locked down. I've got a BMP of it (133kb). If you tell me how, I can post it here so you can see the Real Thing.

No messenger service, and noone (authorized) should be using remote connection.

I tried checking the event log for XP as well as the Firewall, but nothing jumped out on either.

I finally reimaged the whole PC just to be save, and left if off all evening. Haven't see the message since then. I'll be watching it tonight. The other thing I didn't wait to find out is if the message clears itself or not. There is an "OK" button, so I would think not. If that's the case, then I would have at least noticed the message when coming home if it had been happening in the past (which I didn't). Hopefully reformatting purged whatever was initiating or allowing the connection.

How can I find out what "Channel 1" is? I've heard of COM1, COM2, etc, but not Channel.

Thanks

Sounds like you have a logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Check out their website under support- search for synchronizing mouse and keyboard. Just ran into this yesterday.

Whew! That's a relief!

It would be nice if they at least put "Logitech" in the window frame somewhere. Here I am thinking a nefarious hacker is attempting to access all my deep dark secrets!

Thanks all for the help.
