I am working on a large document that that my customer sent out that has lots of questions that I need to anwser. The customer is requiring me to provide my answers in a diffrent format (color, font and size. So instead of clicking on the font color and size toolbar everytime I go to answer I would like word just to keep the same formating everytime I type in an answer. I tried the tracking function but if I say accept the changes it puts the format back to the same format as the area I'm working in.

Thanks,

Jeff

Well Track Changes is the way to go but YOU shouldn't Accept the Changes. Toggle on Track Changes then all the changes that you make will be coloured as per the setting in Tools, Options, Track Changes dialog.

Send the document back to the customer. He will see all your changes in the chosen colour and he can go through the document either accepting or rejecting the changes. If he accepts, the text will defualt to the underlying style: if he rejects them, they are thrown away.

Is that not how you want this to work?

You could use Track Changes, but IMHO if you are actually answering questions, then these are not real changes.

USE STYLES! Determine what the customer wants for your format (font, color, size etc.), make a new style - hey, name it "Answers" - and use it.

You could put the Answer style as a button on a toolbar. When ever you want to insert your text, click the button.

There are other options.
